Download version 2.3.1.0 released on 12.05.2014. This requires at least Windows 7 SP1. For an operating system before Windows 8, if you aren't current with all the updates, you might have to first install Microsoft's .Net 4.5 from here.

To use the program, simply run the downloaded file.

Description

Mosaic lets you create a mosaic of many small pictures.

Mosaic was created to help make the "Worlds Asunder" card game. It's a useful tool for card game developers.

Known issues

On Windows 7, when scrolling up (from the scrollbar), some text is overlapped. Also, the node expanding and collapsing are slow and flickery. This is a bug in the operating system (it occurs when the "SmoothingMode" of a "Graphics" object is not "Antialias" or "HighQuality", for custom drawn list-boxes).

There is a small bug (in the operating system) with the outlined text, particularly the letters "M" and "W". When the thickness of the outline is increased, some lines become visible, though they should not be there. These artifacts get smaller when the size of the font is increased. The artifacts appear only for some fonts (like Verdana), but not for others (like Candara, Georgia and Trebuchet MS).

The cell has no filter match and is not linked to a search filter. In this case, the cell is rendered with a fade color on it.

The cell has a filter match but is linked to a search filter other than the focused one (or a child of this). In this case, the cell is rendered with a fade color on it.

Each mosaic cell has a property which if true specifies that the cell's file name refers a picture which may be printed. A global export setting specifies the picture used for all the cells with non-printable pictures, when the mosaic is exported with the "Export printable pictures" menu.

When designing a card game and the pictures used in the mosaic by the game designer can't be the made public, set this property to false for all cells, and as the game specific pictures become available set this to true; export the mosaic with the "Export printable pictures" menu.

The pictures can be previewed with the keyboard: "Right" / "Up" / "Space" for the next picture, "Left" / "Down" for the previous picture. A preview starts from the last previewed picture (like the one previewed with a middle click).

When picture files are dropped on the program's main window, a query dialog is displayed if a mosaic cell already shows the same picture file.
